Tours and Group Programs

Home to nearly 1000 plants native to Pennsylvania, including over 80 rare and endangered species, Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve (BHWP) serves as a regional center for programs, information and outreach about native plants and their habitats. Body Photo Trails wind through woodlands, meadows, and along a pond and Pidcock Creek, where you'll enjoy an abundance of seasonal wildflowers and other native plants, birds and wildlife.

Daily Guided Tours
If you'd like to walk through the Preserve with a leader who can tell you about the history of the Preserve, identify the native plants and animals you'll see, and entertain you with plant and animal lore, then join in a public guided tour of our grounds. This is an ideal way to become familiar with the site and what's in bloom.

Individuals, families and small groups are welcome to come on a daily guided tour, which is offered seven days a week at 2:00 p.m., April through October. (Please note that if a heat advisory is in effect, guided tours are likely to be cancelled for the health and safety of our visitors and staff. Call the Preserve at (215) 862-2924 to check.)

The tours last about one hour. Trails are well-marked, short and easy to walk upon.

When you arrive at the Preserve, come to the Visitor Center and sign up for the 2:00 tour with the person at the desk in the Twinleaf Shop.

For non-members, a daily guided tour is included in the admission fee to the Preserve, which you pay when you arrive. (Admission fee: Adults- $5, Seniors [62+]-$3, Fulltime students [with ID]-$3, Children 4 through 14- $2, Children under 4-free.)

For members of Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve, daily guided tours are free.

Parking is free for everyone.

Group Tours
Larger groups such as bus tour groups, schools, Scout groups, garden clubs, nature organizations, singles groups, etc. can reserve a private guided tour experience led by trained staff and docent naturalists. The tour can be tailored to the interests and abilities of the participants. Please call the Preserve at (215) 862-2924 for group tour costs and details.
