Location
Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve is located in Southeastern
Pennsylvania in Bucks County, near the Delaware River and
approximately 40 miles northeast of Philadelphia. The Preserve
is situated on the north side of Bowman's Hill, approximately
2.5 miles south of New Hope, Pennsylvania at 1635 River Road
(PA Route 32).
Directions
From Philadelphia, PA and points South:
Take I-95 north to the New Hope Exit 51 (old Exit 31), turn
left (north) onto Taylorsville Road. Follow directions from
I-95 below.
From Trenton and southern New Jersey:
Take NJ Route 29 North to I-95 South and cross the Delaware
River into Pennsylvania. Take the first exit in Pennsylvania
- New Hope Exit 51 (old Exit 31) and turn right (north) onto
Taylorsville Road. Follow directions from I-95 below.
From I-95: The Preserve is
about 10 miles from I-95 New Hope Exit 51 (old Exit 31). Go
north on Taylorsville Road for 7 miles (crossing PA Rt. 532
at 5 miles). Turn left (north) onto River Road (PA Rt. 32)
and go 2.5 miles (past the road to Bowman's Hill Tower on
the left and then Thompson-Neely House on the right). The
entrance to the Preserve is on your left (look for our large
brown road sign "BOWMAN'S HILL WILDFLOWER PRESERVE"). Turn
left into the Preserve.
From points West: This route
takes you through New Hope: Take U.S. Route 202 North to PA
Route 179 (Bridge Street) for 1 mile to New Hope, PA. At the
traffic light turn right (south) onto PA Route 32. Continue
south on River Road (PA Rt. 32), for 3.5 miles. Entrance to
the Preserve is on the right.
This shortcut does not go
through New Hope: Take U.S. Route 202 North about one
mile past Peddler's Village to the first traffic light, Aquetong
Road. Turn right on Aquetong Road and follow for about 4 miles,
crossing Route 232 (Windybush Road). Aquetong ends at River
Road (PA Rt. 32). At the stop sign at River Road, turn right.
Entrance to the Preserve is immediately on the right.
From points North (Lehigh Valley area):
Take PA Route 309 South to Quakertown. Then take Route 313
East to Doylestown. Turn left on US Route 202 North. Follow
Route 202 about one mile past Peddler's Village to the first
traffic light, Aquetong Road. Turn right on Aquetong Road
and follow for about 4 miles, crossing Route 232 (Windybush
Road). Aquetong ends at River Road (PA Rt. 32). At the stop
sign at River Road, turn right. Entrance to the Preserve is
immediately on the right.
From Poconos area: Take the
Northeast Extension South to the Quakertown exit. Exit at
Quakertown. Take Route 663 East into Quakertown. Route 663
ends at Route 309, a main intersection in Quakertown. Continue
across 309 to Route 313 South. Take Route 313 East to Doylestown.
Follow directions "From points North", above, beginning
with "Turn left on US Route 202 North".
From Harrisburg and Western PA:
Most direct route: Take
PA Turnpike to Exit 28 (Philadelphia Interchange). Take Route
1 North to I-95 North. Take I-95 north to the New Hope Exit
51 (old Exit 31), turn left (north) onto Taylorsville Road.
Follow directions from I-95, above.
Alternate route: Take
PA Turnpike to Exit 27, Willow Grove/Doylestown. Go North
on Rt. 611 to U.S. Route 202 North (about 10 miles). Follow
Route 202 for about 9 miles. Continue on Route 202 about one
mile past Peddler's Village to the first traffic light, Aquetong
Road. Turn right on Aquetong Road and follow for about 4 miles,
crossing Route 232 (Windybush Road). Aquetong ends at River
Road (PA Rt. 32). At the stop sign at River Road, turn right.
Entrance to the Preserve is immediately on the right.
From New York and Northern New Jersey:
Take I-80 or I-78 to Route 287 South. In Somerville, NJ, exit
onto Route 202 South. Follow Route 202 to the Delaware River
toll bridge ($.75). Take first exit after bridge (New Hope/Easton).
Turn right (south) onto PA Route 32 (River Road) and follow
for about 3.5 miles through New Hope. The entrance to the
Preserve is on the right (just past Aquetong Road, which comes
in only from the right).
PLEASE NOTE: A large stone
picnic pavilion (the Moore Pavilion) will be on your right
as you proceed up the hill to the wrought iron gates in our
deer fence. Pull up to the white line and the gates will automatically
open for your vehicle; follow the paved road to Visitor Center
parking lot. LARGE BUSES can unload in front of the Visitor
Center, then follow circular drive around and out through
the exit gates and park by the Pavilion or in lower parking
