Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve Announces Date For Annual Gala

Spring Wildflower Gala is a magical evening featuring cocktails, gourmet dinner, music, auction and dancing.

The Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve’s 14th annual Spring Wildflower Gala, a black tie and muck boots event, will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017. Gala guests will have the opportunity to explore the stunning spring wildflower beauty of the Preserve through an intimate evening woodland walk along the trails, enjoy a gourmet menu featuring spring-themed ingredients, and participate in spirited live and silent auctions. The Gala is the Preserve’s largest fundraiser, raising over $145,000 at last year’s event.

This year’s theme, Regeneration, is timely as the Preserve transforms a 20-acre area from woods to meadow due to extensive damage the woodland area suffered during a microburst windstorm this summer.  The Preserve is taking advantage of nature’s unpredictability  to rejuvenate this space by populating it with pollinator-friendly native plants.  The meadow will create important habitat for a variety of wildlife species and include a new trail loop for visitors.

According to BHWP Executive Director Miles Arnott, “Regeneration of the front meadow adjacent to Aquetong Road is a critically important endeavor as we conserve and establish native plants in this dynamic environment, with a total of over 650 species on the Preserve’s 134 acres.”  Co-chair Julia Klossner adds, “We are very inspired by this year’s event theme.  The natural world is continuously evolving, and we are eager to support the creation of a beautiful, environmentally beneficial meadow teeming with wildlife right here on the doorstep of the Preserve.”

Tickets for the Spring Wildflower Gala will be available in March. Please visit www.bhwp.org/gala.htm or contact the Preserve at (215) 862-2924 for more information on attending, sponsoring, or donating auction items to this event.
