Our new Pond will open to public in late September 2012

Progress continues this summer on the construction of our highly anticipated new pond. Site work began earlier this spring and, after two years of careful planning and fundraising, we are thrilled to see this new feature take shape. The project remains on schedule for our targeted completion date of late September.
The new pond will breathe life into the Woods Edge Walk trail located near our exit gate. Once an often overlooked corner of the Preserve, it will now be a major destination. The opportunities for educational programs, special events, wildlife habitat, and, of course, quiet reflection and beauty, are abundant.
Details of the project include a new stone spring house and patio, small circular farm pond, rambling stream, and the large pond feature that will hold approximately 70,000 gallons of water. Back in April, a new well was dug to a depth of 300’ to supply and maintain the water level. The spring house will house the necessary equipment for filtering and recirculating the water.
