Community Open House Day
New Hope, PA - Discover the secrets of nature's garden at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve's Seventh Annual Community Open House Day. This free event will be held at the Preserve on Saturday, July 15, 2006 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
Everyone in the region is invited to join in this festive day of guided wildflower walks, children's activities and music. Activities especially for children include an insect hunt in the meadow, nature crafts, a balloon artist, face-painters and a coloring contest. New this year is a “Name that Wildflower” contest.
Local band Jericho Mountain Grass will entertain with a lively mix of bluegrass and folk music.
For visitors of all ages, guided wildflower walks will be offered throughout the day. Experience the natural beauty of our meadows where many spectacular wildflowers will be in bloom and butterflies dart about. Explore further through the woodlands, pond and Pidcock Creek, and catch a glimpse of birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
Exhibits will showcase the Preserve's year-round educational programs and native plant resources, as well as Solebury Township 's Environmental Advisory Committee and Land Preservation Committee activities. The Visitor Center Display Garden will be overflowing with wildflowers and ideas about native plants for your home landscape. Native plants will be available for sale as well as nature-oriented books and t-shirts.
Admission, activities and snacks are free. If you like, bring a picnic lunch. Also bring your family, friends and neighbors!
