Discovery Day
New Hope, PA - Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve invites the community to "Discover the Secrets of Nature's Garden" at the Preserve's 8th annual Discovery Day. Bring your family, friends and neighbors. This free event will take place at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve on Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
New activities for exploring and learning in a festive atmosphere have been added this year. A family treasure hunt will lead to fascinating native plants and critters. Find them all and claim a prize. Also new, learn how to be "green" in your home landscape from a Bucks County Master Gardener, who will show how to make compost, transforming yard waste and kitchen scraps into "black gold."
Especially for kids, Discovery Day features the treasure hunt, an insect quest, nature crafts, a coloring contest, a balloon artist and face-painters.
For visitors of all ages, guided wildflower walks will be offered throughout the day. Experience the natural beauty of a 5-acre meadow, where colorful native perennials mingle with grasses and beautiful butterflies. Exhibits will showcase the Preserve's year-round educational programs and resources. The Visitor Center Display Garden will offer ideas about using native plants in your home landscape. Native plants will be available for sale as well as nature-oriented books, field guides, t-shirts and hats.
Enjoy a lively mix of bluegrass and folk music performed by the popular local band, Jericho Mountain Grass. Beverages and light snacks provided; bring a picnic lunch if you like.
