New Date for Lecture “Think Spring: Close-up on Wildflowers”
New Hope, Pennsylvania – The final lecture in this year’s blockbuster Winter Lecture Series has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 11, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve.
The presentation “Think Spring: Close-up on Wildflowers”, originally scheduled for the end of February and cancelled due to snow, should be even more welcome as we round the corner to spring. Join Frank Plucinsky as he takes you on a photographic journey of pure pleasure to natural areas of our region. Experience the progress of your favorite spring wildflowers from emerging shoots to fragile blossoms and fascinating fruits. Sweeping landscape shots contrast with macro photography close-ups, providing a view of the intimate details of flowers that are rarely seen with the naked eye.
Frank Plucinksy received a BS Ed. in biological science from Bloomsburg College and an MA in biology from Williams College. A retired physician, he obtained an MD from Temple University and completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Pennsylvania. Frank has had a life-long fascination with the natural sciences, photography and fly-fishing.
Winter Lecture Series talks are held at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve Visitor Center, located at 1635 River Road (PA Rt. 32), 2.5 miles south of New Hope, Pennsylvania and convenient to I-95. For further directions, click here or call (215) 862-2924.
Before or after the lecture, enjoy a walk on trails through our woods, meadows, along Pidcock Creek and a pond. In the Visitor Center, pick up free trail maps, watch birds from the comfort of indoors, enjoy exhibits, get free information about gardening with native plants, and peruse books in our library. The Visitor Center also is home to the Platt Museum of mounted birds, nests and eggs, and the Twinleaf Shop, where nature-themed books and t-shirts can be purchased.
