2008 Winter Lecture Series

New Hope, Pennsylvania - Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve's 2008 Winter Lecture Series features a slide presentation by a regionally renowned expert on Sunday afternoons January 6 through February 24 from 2 to 3 p.m. This year's schedule includes lectures on a wide range of topics related to ecological gardening, including attracting birds, managing stormwater, understanding the dynamics of soil and learning about urban native flora. Join us for an energizing and enlightening experience!

All lectures are held at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve Visitor Center, located at 1635 River Road (PA Rt. 32), 2.5 miles south of New Hope, Pennsylvania and convenient to I-95. For further directions, click here or call (215) 862-2924.

January 6: Inviting Winter Birds to Your Backyard, Adrian Binns - FREE
January 13: Garden Ecology: Guided by Nature, Fran Lawn
January 20: Pidcock Creek Streambank Stabilization, Gretchen Schatschneider
January 27: Exotic Species Dispersal by White-Tailed Deer, Jeffrey Ward
February 3: Rain Gardens: Manage Stormwater Beautifully, Carole Ann Barth
February 10: Life Beneath Us: The Ecology of Soil, John Dighton
February 17: Likable Lichens, Dorothy Smullen
February 24: Exploring Native Flora in the Urban Landscape, Marielle Anzelone

Cost per lecture:
Preserve members and fulltime students: $8.00; Non-members: $10.00
Memberships can be purchased at the Preserve upon arrival or in advance.

  • Non-members: $56 (Full price: $70)
  • Each ticket entitles the holder to one admission per lecture. Ticket books may be purchased in advance by calling the Preserve at (215) 862-2924, or may be purchased at the door.

Pre-registration suggested, call (215) 862-2924. Walk-ins welcome as space permits. Seating for all lectures is general admission, so please arrive early to get the seat of your choice.
