Introducing Your Child to Nature

New Hope, PA – April is the First Annual Children and Nature Awareness Month. With the growing awareness of the disconnection between children and nature, coined “nature-deficit disorder,” and initiatives to make sure “no child is left inside,” Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve is offering a program to help reconnect your kids and the natural world. If you have ever felt stumped by not knowing how to share your love of nature with your child, then come to the program “Introducing Your Child to Nature” on Saturday, April 12 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Preserve.

This program will be led by Pam Newitt, Preserve Volunteer Naturalist, author of Nature Inside Out and resident of Yardley, Pennsylvania. She will demonstrate fun and exciting activities to delight and inspire you and your child. You'll discover how to foster the natural sense of wonder children possess and many adults have lost.

Bring your kids or come alone and surprise them with new adventures when you get home. This family event will take place both inside and out, so dress for the weather. Signed copies of Nature Inside Out will be available for purchase.

The fee for “Introducing Your Child to Nature” for non-members is: adults-$5, seniors (62 yrs.+)-$3, fulltime students (15 yrs.+)-$3, children 4 through 14-$2, under 4-free. Preserve members are admitted free. Pre-registration is required by Thursday, April 10; please call (215) 862-2924.

Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve is located on 1635 River Road (PA Route 32), 2.5 miles south of New Hope, Pennsylvania and convenient to I-95. For directions, call (215) 862-2924 or visit www.bhwp.org (select “Visiting BHWP” from main menu).
