Native Plant Catalog & Sale-better than ever!
New Hope, Pennsylvania –The 2005 Spring Native Plant Sale at Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve is the premier place in the Delaware Valley to buy plants native to the region. Over 200 species of high-quality native wildflowers, vines, ferns, shrubs and trees are offered for sale in time for spring planting.
All plants are nursery-propagated; none are wild-collected.
The Spring Native Plant Sale is open to the public on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 through the weekend of Saturday, May 14 and Sunday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The Sale takes place at the Preserve’s Visitor Center.
Members’ Day Spring Native Plant Sale will be held on Friday, May 6. Only Preserve members are admitted to this exclusive opportunity to choose plants before the sale opens to the public. At 1 p.m., members are invited to attend by Nursery Manager Bill Lamack, who will showcase featured plants from the sale in an hour-long slide presentation. The sale itself is open from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. Memberships can be purchased at the Preserve or by calling (215) 862-2924 before, or on the day of, Members’ Day sale.
Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will be hand to help attendees choose the most suitable plants for their sites and to answer questions. Free resource/educational material is available, including plant lists for specific growing conditions.
New this year , special displays will feature native plants to attract butterflies and hummingbirds and native plants for shade gardens.
On Saturday May 14 only , short talks about the special display plants will be presented in the Visitor Center: 11 a.m.-Natives to Attract Hummingbirds and Butterflies, 1 p.m.-Natives for the Shade. No pre-registration needed.
2005 Native Plant Sale Catalog
The Preserve’s 2005 Native Plant Sale Catalog is now available. The Catalog has been expanded to include a common name index, cultural and other information about each species, as well as articles about native plants for shade gardening and to attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
Please, no pre-ordering or reserving plants. Also, the Preserve does not ship plants.
