Community Open House Day
New Hope, Pennsylvania - Enter the wonderful world of meadow wildflowers and summer fun at the Sixth Annual Community Open House Day, Saturday, July 16, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve (rain or shine.)
Everyone in the region is invited to join in this free, festive day of guided wildflower walks, nature discovery and entertainment for the entire family. Local musicians Jericho Mountain Grass will fill the air with their lively mix of bluegrass and folk
Activities especially for children include a insect hunt in the meadow, offered for the first time, as well as nature craft activities, a balloon artist, face-painters and a coloring contest.
For visitors of all ages, free, guided wildflower walks will be offered throughout the day. This is a perfect opportunity to take a guided tour of the Preserve, experience the natural beauty of our meadows, woodlands, pond and Pidcock Creek, and find out about our year-round programs. Bring your family, friends and neighbors!
Many spectacular meadow flowers will be in bloom, including black-eyed Susan, butterfly weed, wild bergamot, thin-leaved sunflower and gray-headed coneflower. Catch a glimpse of frogs, turtles, dragonflies, butterflies and birds.
Educational exhibits and free information about gardening with native plants will be available. The Visitor Center Display Garden will be bursting with wildflowers and ideas about native plants for your home landscape. Native plants will be available for sale as well as nature-oriented books and gifts.
Admission, activities and snacks are free. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy under cover of the Pavilion or on the adjacent mown grassy areas.
