Discovery Day

Discovery Day
Saturday, July 14, 2012
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Our 13th annual Discovery Day is the perfect time for you, your family and friends to have your “Mind, Heart and Spirit Bloom” at the Preserve.

This free community event is an opportunity for all ages to experience a sampling of what the Preserve has to offer. Discovery Day will take place on Saturday, July 14, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

Guided wildflower walks offered throughout the event will take you on a stroll through the heart of our meadow, filled with brilliant native perennials and grasses and beautiful butterflies.

Other Discovery Day activities especially for families include an insect hunt, nature crafts and a self-guided treasure hunt to explore the Preserve’s native plants and critters. Exhibits will showcase the Preserve’s programs and resources.

Mercer County Master Gardener Jennifer Bryson will be back with two new puppet shows: Pollinator Pals and Soil Adventure. New this year, Mary Ellen Noonan of the Bucks County Conservation District will show you how stormwater affects our water quality with a hands-on watershed model.

Native plants will be offered for sale, as well as books on gardening with natives, field guides, t-shirts and hats.

Discovery Day is a way for the Preserve to introduce more members of the community to the extraordinary beauty, ecological significance and diverse resources of the Preserve. Whether you are new to the region or a long-time resident, we invite you to attend.

Activities will be centered at the stone Pavilion located as you enter the Preserve. Beverages and snacks will be available; visitors also are encouraged to bring a picnic.
