Visitor & Resource Center

The Visitor Center is your gateway to Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve. A friendly volunteer or staff member in the Twinleaf Shop will orient you to the Preserve and tell you about upcoming events. They also can suggest the best trails for you to walk on Body Photobased on your time, interests and abilities.

If you're not a member of the Preserve, please pay the admission fee to the Preserve in the Shop. Your admission fee entitles you to unlimited access to the Preserve for the day and to a free, guided tour (offered daily at 2:00 p.m. from mid-March through October). If you're interested, sign up when you arrive. For more about guided tours, click here.

Members receive free admission and a free, guided tour, among many other benefits. Membership details and forms are available in the Visitor Center. To find out more about membership, click here.

Pick up a free trail map, bloom guide and seasonal trail guide. If you're visiting with children, ask the person in the Shop for "A Children's Guide to Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve." Click here to find out more about bloom guides and seasonal trail guides.

The Twinleaf Shop also sells field guides, books, nature-themed items and native plant seeds. To find out more about the Shop, click here.

To whet your appetite, look at the bulletin boards of photographs and tidbits about what's in bloom. Peruse the exhibits. For more about what's in bloom, click here. To find out about current exhibits, click here. Free information sheets about gardening with natives and invasive plants are available, as well as brochures about volunteering and group/school tours.

While you're in the Visitor Center, watch a wildflower video, check out the Sinkler Bird Observatory and the Platt Bird Collection, which is located downstairs.

An 800-title library of books about native plants, horticulture, ecology, plant folklore, birds and related subjects is now catalogued and available to the public for on-site use. With a small table, a few comfortable chairs and a built-in bank of books beckoning through glass doors, the library corner provides a cozy retreat for learning more about plants you see on the trails or for digging deeper into a nature topic that interests you.

Restrooms, a drinking fountain and a soda/bottled water machine also are located at the Visitor Center. Sorry, no food is available to buy, but there are restaurants and convenience stores in nearby New Hope.

The main floor of the Visitor Center and its restrooms, and the parking lot are handicapped accessible. There is ample free parking close to the Visitor Center.

Just outside the Visitor Center during the growing season, you'll find an inviting selection of native plants for sale. Nearby display gardens showcase native plants for home landscapes; a free handout describes the plantings.
